Are you in AM or FM?

When listening to the radio, you have the option to tune in to AM stations or to FM stations. One has a difference in Amplitude, and one in Frequency. While you are probably unaware of the differences, there is one thing you can be sure of. When a station is transmitting in AM, you can only RECEIVE that transmission if your radio is TUNED to the AM station. Likewise, when the station is transmitting in FM, you are entirely unable to pick up the transmission if your radio is tuned to AM instead.

Metaphorically speaking, God transmits from only one place.....AM. This stands for "Abiding Mode". Unfortunately, we often "tune our radio" to FM - "Function Mode". Being in FM causes us to be in fear, ruminate about our circumstances, spend a lot of energy on "what ifs", and to try to figure out how to solve problems in our own power. When God is speaking from AM and we are tuned to FM, we CANNOT hear what He is trying to tell us.

It is a simple choice to get ourselves into AM so we can abide with The One who holds the answers. Psalm 91:1 says "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." If you want to experience peace and guidance, you must make the act of abiding a LIFESTYLE. It isn't something you do once in a while. When you abide in God's Word, you live immersed in it.

In a nutshell, abiding in Christ means allowing His Word to fill our minds, direct our wills, and transform our affections. In other words, our relationship to God is intimately connected to what we do with our Bibles! Our minds become transformed and renewed by spending time with God through His Word, through prayer (talking to God), and through meditation (listening to hear from God). A renewed mind doesn't leave space for fear and swirling ruminations. It allows us to place our attention on Him, which in turn brings that peace that passes all understanding.

So....what frequency are you tuned in to today?
